| Why you lose hair after pregnancy? |
Hair growth during pregnancy
Perhaps it is not noticed you, but during your pregnancy you probably had more hair than before and thus a fuller and often shinier hair. That has to do with hormonal changes during pregnancy.
- Normally you lose eighty to one hundred hairs a day. That hardly notice because you have 500,000 to 1 million hairs. This has to do with the natural growth cycle of the hair. Approximately 85-95% of all hair is in a growth phase (anagen phase), which lasts about three to six years. About 10% is in the resting phase (telogen phase), which takes approximately 3 months. These hairs are eventually pushed aside by new hair and fall out.
- Those natural growth cycle is affected by the production of pregnancy hormones. From about the fifth month of pregnancy are more hairs than normal in the growth phase (anagen phase) and less in the resting phase (telogen phase). So your hair fall less rapidly and so you will have more hair. You'll lose significantly less than 80-100 hairs per day.
- After delivery, estrogen falls again and reaches a greater proportion of hairs in the resting phase (telogen phase). It takes about three months for the hair fall out. Therefore you are faced with more hair than normal after 3-4 months. This form of hair loss called telogen effluvium. The stress associated with the birth, which can contribute to accelerated hair loss.
- If you are breastfeeding, the hair loss can occur a little later, because your hormones balance is influenced by breastfeeding.
temporary phenomenon
